The Woman
Hailing from the world of fashion in Italy, Elena Murgia is a sculptor who works on the land of the Gamaragal people, mainly with Carrara marble, bronze and ceramic, creating highly refined figurative forms.
This is often offset by skilfully combining contrasting materials - such as silk and concrete - in her installations, imbuing her work with tension and layered meaning.
Elena’s work often uses the paradoxical relationship between women and fashion as a metaphor in her own personal narrative of the strength and vulnerability of the feminine and the feminist.
